Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Forum Sign MoU With Jordan Anti-Corruption Commission

AMMAN – Jordan Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission (JIACC) and Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Forum (TAG-KF) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation and coordination for maximizing principles of integrity, transparency, good governance and fighting corruption.  

The MoU was signed by JIACC Chairman of the Board, Dr. Muhannad Hijazi, and TAG-KF Chairman HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh at the Commission headquarters.  

The MoU stipulates that fighting corruption is a national effort and duty by all sectors. It also emphasizes .the importance of enforcing a real and active partnership between the public and private sectors, boosting the culture of integrity and good governance in line with the Royal visions and directives. Furthermore, the Memorandum aims to enhance joint cooperation between the two parties by the optimal investment of their efforts, capabilities and resources to become a model in enhancing national role of private sector in fighting corruption.

During the signing ceremony, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh expressed his pride in partnering with JIACC considering it a a basic part of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global national obligation.

“Our Organization is determined to support the efforts and goals of the Commission’s mission in enhancing integrity and fighting corruption, in appreciation and compliance with the inspiration of HM King Abdullah II ibn Al-Hussein who honored me with the membership of the Royal Integrity Committee, and I am pleased to put all our technological and professional resources and capabilities at the service of the Commission,” Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh said.

Dr. Abu Ghazaleh also underlined the importance of proactive prevention of corruption, by enhancing the dissemination of integrity, strengthening financial and administrative regulations and controls in the public and private sector through reducing human interference by activating digital systems and electronic programs.

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh stressed the importance of developing training material, diploma and a professional practicing certificate in partnership with JIACC, and at the same underscoring the importance of raising awareness at schools and universities to promote values and concepts of integrity among the youth to bring up well-informed generations for leading the future. 

For his part, Dr. Hijazi stated that the MoU consolidates the joint responsibility in the field of building capacities and knowledge in the fight against corruption at the national level by holding courses, joint field research and human resource training, adding that JIACC has updated the National Integrity and Anti-Corruption Strategy in line with the aspirations and operational horizons that have been translated into projects and programs at the national and institutional levels. 

JIACC Chairman also noted that the Commission has been keen on developing governing legislation to maintain its independence, as well as  adopting the idea of shifting towards virtualization in the field of investigation, specialization with the active assistance of specialized experts. That is in addition to developing the employees’ performance by establishing a center for innovation and training to develop their skills and capabilities and transfer knowledge at the regional and international levels.

He concluded by disclosing that the Commission has established a specialized unit for investment affairs that is concerned with following up on procedures of investment services and protecting investors attributed to its role in supporting national economy and preserving domestic resources.
