Who can take the Diploma for Teachers and Trainers?

The Diploma is ideal for anyone in a teaching or training role who wishes to develop and enhance their professional practice. It is not limited to one particular subject area or level of education; it focuses instead on transferable skills and knowledge that can be used in any teaching or training context.

How is the Diploma for Teachers and Trainers taught?

All candidates will take part in the professional development activities organized by their Centre, to lead to the Diploma. Candidates must enter for the Diploma through a registered CIE Centre.

You will work with a ‘toolkit’ of resources, approaches and ideas which you can apply to your own teaching, as the focus of the Diploma is professional practice. Your Centre will normally have a tutor or mentor coordinating your program. Cambridge provides resource materials to help you.

To be awarded the Cambridge International Diploma for Teachers and Trainers, it is necessary to pass all four modules within three years.

What does each module cover?

Each module sets out performance standards for a particular stage in the teaching cycle, consisting of performance criteria, supported by skills, knowledge and understanding.

Teaching and Learning in Action module illustrates how the performance standards are set out.

In addition, the module addresses the learner's individual requirements such as; coaching skills, technical advice, remedial action, monitoring of individual progress or simple reassurance.

Since time involved in such individual attention requires careful management, the module covers the methods of giving appropriate time and attention to individual learners in a group situation while still meeting the needs of both the group and other individual learners.

How to give constructive feedback to individual learners one-to-one?

Assessment Information

Each module is assessed by a professional practice assignment, requiring structured activities and a reflective report. Cambridge provides easy-to-use assignment templates.
You can work with your Centre to identify the most appropriate opportunities to apply the skills and knowledge you have developed, then enter for an assessment at a time convenient for you rather than waiting for a fixed examination session.
